  • Marseille Saint-Charles, Marseille Luminy, Aix-en-Provence

The aim of the Life Sciences degree is to give students a solid and broad base in the fields of biology, from the molecule to the organism. This training is done by and for research in Marseille and within the framework of international mobility.

Pedagogy

  • AIMS

    After a first year in the Louis Pasteur scientific portal, the last two years of the Life Sciences (SV) license aim to train students with solid and broad bases in the fields of biology. The aim of the training is to understand living things in order to characterize their functioning at different organizational scales: molecular, cellular, tissue, organ and organism. This training is done through research, which allows students to:

    to have theoretical and practical training in the most recent fields of cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and physiology.
    to acquire the ability to observe, make assumptions, experiment, analyze and finalize a project.

    Throughout his course, the student develops skills that allow him to match his training and his professional project.

  • TARGETED STUDENTS

    High-level science bachelors;

    Students holding a BTS admitted on file in 2nd or 3rd year;
    Students who have validated their 1st year of PACES admitted to the 2nd year;
    For other students, personalized solutions can be proposed after studying their files:

    - one year refresher course. https://sciences.univ-amu.fr/annee-mise-a-level-scientifique-amns

    - for students with a Scientific Baccalaureate with low averages in scientific disciplines, there is the L1en2ans training: https://sciences.univ-amu.fr/pes

    This license can be followed by distance learning. (L1 Pasteur portal, L2 Life Sciences, L3 a single path Physiology and Functional Genomics

  • STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION

    The first year, or L1 “LOUIS PASTEUR” portal, is a year of discovery. This common core year includes lessons in biology, but also other scientific subjects, English and orientation lessons and assistance with professional integration.
    The second year or L2 is an orientation year. Students will complete their training in the fields of molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics and physiology...
    The third year, or L3, is a year of specialization, and is divided into 6 courses plus 1 work-study course, enabling students to enter the job market as soon as they finish their degree.
    the first year and the second year of the license are common and are given on the sites of Aix-Montperrin, Luminy and Saint Charles.
    third year courses are site specific.

  • KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED

    Understand the concepts of biology, from the molecular and cellular level to that of the organism, as well as their applications and societal and ethical issues, by mobilizing a multidisciplinary scientific base.
    Develop a rigorous scientific approach centered on experimentation, observation, criticism of results to question the mechanisms of living organisms.

  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

    Express in French, in written and oral form, a structured scientific reasoning based on scientific sources in French and English.
    Develop and implement individual and team projects integrating the knowledge acquired in the various disciplines of biology and related sciences.
    Link knowledge of life sciences to their applications and challenges in different professional settings (laboratory, company, association, etc.).
    Develop independently and responsibly a training and professional project based on an investigation of post-licence courses, professional licenses and careers in the life sciences.

  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

    Several courses contain tutored projects, internships in the laboratory or in business, are encouraged during vacation periods.

  • SUPPORT FOR YOUR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

    The Life Sciences license offers a diversified training offer with progressive specialization that allows each student to build their professional project according to their interests.

  • SUPPORT FOR YOUR ACADEMIC CHOICES

    The orientation in the courses is progressive. During a reorientation, the content in UE of the semesters can be established à la carte by the pedagogical commission, according to the equivalences observed, then applied and monitored by the person in charge of the year.

    Throughout their course, the student follows teaching units entitled Professional Project and Student Staff which allow them to match their training and their professional project.

    The Biology license is managed by its teaching team, which meets regularly. Lessons are evaluated each year by the students, and the teaching team proposes modifications in order to improve the training.

  • SUPPORT FOR YOUR LABOR MARKET INTEGRATION

    The programs of the different courses prepare for the different MASTERS in biology at Aix-Marseille University.

  • SUPPORT FOR YOUR STUDIES ABROAD

    Possibility of following a period of university studies in outgoing international mobility, in foreign universities with which AMU has partnership agreements in Europe (ERASMUS+) or outside Europe. For the construction of your international mobility project, contact the International Relations educational referents (sciences-ri-direction@univ-amu.fr).
