  • AIMS

After a first year in the Louis Pasteur scientific portal, the last two years of the Life Sciences degree course From the molecule to the organism or MORGAN, offered in the 3rd year of the SV license on the Aix site, allows students: 1) to acquire the knowledge, concepts and experimental methods necessary to understand the structure-function relationships of molecular and cellular assemblies underlying the functioning of an organism and 2) to develop an integrated vision of the mechanisms regulating the metabolism and major physiological functions. By choosing options in semester 6, students can complete their training in Microbiology, Neuroscience, or Food Quality and Safety. Practical work and tutored projects train in the experimental approach, collaborative work, and sharpen the spirit of analysis and synthesis. Students are guided in the establishment of a training and professional project based on an investigation of post-graduate courses, professional licenses and careers in the life sciences.

  • FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES

Baccalaureate or equivalent for entry into L1, BTS or DUT with a biological focus or equivalent for entry into L2 or L3.

  • FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES

A general scientific baccalaureate of good level is strongly recommended for entry into L1. Students from other backgrounds and those with strong gaps in scientific subjects start with a more or less significant handicap.

  • LEARNING SITES

    • SCIENCES, Aix-en-Provence
      Aux semestres 5 et 6.
  • LEARNING AND RESEARCH

The MORGAN course of the SV license is intended to allow students to pursue a master's degree from AMU or another university, to enter Biotechnology engineering schools in particular. Possibilities to enter schools or institutes (management) are open. Research support is based on all the research units of the AMU perimeter in the field of biology.

  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

Understand the structure-function relationships of molecular and cellular assemblies underlying the functioning of an organism.
Implement laboratory techniques used in the various disciplines of biology.
Develop a rigorous scientific approach centered on experimentation, observation, criticism of results to question the mechanisms of living organisms.
Express in French, in written and oral form, a structured scientific reasoning based on scientific sources in French and English.
Develop and implement individual and team projects integrating the knowledge acquired in the various disciplines of biology and related sciences.
Link knowledge of life sciences to their applications and challenges in different professional settings (laboratory, company, association, etc.).

  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

Tutored projects in several teaching units make it possible to organize individual or collective scientific work, or to help the student to design his training and professional project. Students are encouraged to carry out internships in the laboratory or in companies during vacation periods.

  • SPECIFIC TEACHING CONDITIONS

Lectures and tutorials with online support on Ametice. Practical work with structured report and statistical analysis of group results. Tutored projects (collaborative synthesis work, establishment of a training and professional project). English practice.
