Hunger for Science

The Faculty of Sciences of Aix-Marseille University organizes on Wednesday, March 1st from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm the event Faim de Sciences, an interactive conference-debate on all its campuses for students!

For this first edition, the theme"Repairing the world" has been chosen with Thierry DUTOIT (CNRS Research Director of the Mediterranean Institute of Biodiversity and Marine and Continental Ecology) as speaker.

In a context of global climate change and 6th biodiversity extinction crisis, is it still possible to repair the major negative impacts of humans on nature without worsening them or will nature be able to do it much better on its own?

Aren't repair concepts based on civil engineering and the identification of reference ecosystems in the manner of the restoration of our cultural heritage outdated in the face of nature's formidable resilience that has already allowed it to survive several major extinction crises? Doesn't the repair of ecosystems and the services they provide us with concern our survival on earth?

To try to answer these questions, various specialists in the restoration of terrestrial and marine ecosystems as well as of our cultural heritage will exchange with you to bring crossroads to this theme at the center of the current ecological transition.

At the end of this event, a lunch will be offered to all participants!

Pre-registration is recommended: https: //formulaires.univ-amu.fr/fr/public/faim-sciences-1er-mars-2023
