Girls' Math and Computer Science Days


THE IRES of Aix Marseille joins à Women and Mathematics and Animath to organize a new day "Girls Maths and computer sciencea luminous equation " Thursday, December 1 2022 in order d'ato promote greater gender diversity in the scientific and technical fields.and technical fields.


  • 9:30 am: Welcome, presentation of the day, coffee - HEXAGONE lobby.
  • 9:45 - 11:15: Stereotyping presentations - math professions - AUDITORIUM
  • 11H30 - 12H30 : Lunch at the CROUS
  • 12:45 - 14:15 : Speed Meeting : meetings with women scientists or students (DUT/master/licence/engineering school/doctorate/CPGE) - EXHIBITION HALL
  • 2:30 - 4:30 pm: Interactive play, forum theater - AUDITORIUM
  • 4:30 pm: End of the day, conclusion

"Girls in math and computing" is an operation that has been running since 2009. During these days, young girls come to learn about careers related to mathematics and computer science, to work on the weight of stereotypes related to math and to meet women scientists who work around mathematics and computer science. These events are aimed at young girls in their final year of secondary school or high school.

The main objectives of "Women and Mathematics" are to encourage the presence of girls in mathematical studies and more generally in scientific and technical studies, to act for parity in the professions of mathematics and computer science for the recruitment of more women in the universities. To promote the participation of women in mathematics and computer science. To sensitize the scientific and educational community to the issue of gender equality. To be a meeting place for women mathematicians.

The objectives of theassociation " Animath " are to promote mathematical activity among young people, in all its forms: workshops, competitions, clubs... in secondary schools and universities, while developing the pleasure of doing mathematics. Animath is nationally approved by the French Ministry of Education as an educational association complementary to public education, by order of June 10, 2010 for a period of 5 years, renewable.
