  • AIMS

After a first year in the Louis Pasteur scientific portal, the last two years of the Life Sciences bachelor's degree in biochemistry focus on the reactions and mechanisms that take place in living organisms at the molecular level. The study of these processes contributes to the development of our knowledge in fundamental biology, medicine and pharmacology, agronomic sciences and biotechnologies such as bioenergies.

The biochemist combines the scientific fields of biology and chemistry and physico-chemical methods. In particular, he uses the tools of molecular biology, methods of separation and interaction of biomolecules, various spectroscopic methods of analysis, bioinformatics tools, and performs the quantitative analysis of the results obtained.

This course trains students in the study of molecules and macromolecules in order to understand their functioning in the cell and in the design of bioactive molecules, both conceptually and theoretically as well as practically.

  • LEARNING AND RESEARCH

The SV degree in Biochemistry is training through research that allows students to pursue various disciplinary masters at AMU or other universities in the science and health sectors. This course also provides access to teaching masters and engineering schools, particularly in biotechnology. Integration into (management) schools or institutes is also possible.

  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

The biochemistry course provides skills in biology, structural and functional genomics, chemical and biopharmaceutical engineering, in order to learn about the tools and experimental methods used in biology.

Know the fundamentals in biology; from molecular biology to integrated biology,
Perform measurements of chemical or physical biological characteristics,
To be able to understand and analyze a scientific question from the molecular level to the cellular level in the fields of research in biology, structural and functional genomics, and biopharmaceuticals.
Have the ability to position the scientific question in the cellular context and know how to use the tools and methods of analysis in biochemistry, bioinformatics and cell biology to answer it.
