Master Cinéma et Audiovisuel, Parcours : Ingénierie du montage et post-production

L'objectif de ce parcours est de former des étudiants au montage professionnel, documentaire, fiction ou expérimental, sous toutes ses formes (montage transparent, discursif, narratif) d’un point de vue théorique et pratique, tout en leur assurant une très bonne maîtrise des instruments de montage (logiciels), de la digitalisation à la sortie.

Pédagogie

  • AIMS

    • To train students in professional editing, documentary, fiction or experimental, in all its forms (transparent, discursive, narrative editing) from a theoretical and practical point of view
    • To ensure that they have a very good command of editing tools (software), digitisation and output
    • To make them familiar with the workflow of all films and enable them to clearly situate their contributions, duties and necessary skills in this chain.
    • Enable them to have a sound knowledge of the possible effects and manipulations of image and sound and introduce them to compositing
    • To teach them how to make génériques.
  • FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES

    Candidates wishing to enter Master 1 must have a professional project (supported by a minimum of one month's initial professional experience in the audiovisual field: work placement agreement and activity report) and be highly motivated.

  • FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES

    • Have a good knowledge of the professional audiovisual environment and a good film culture. Computer skills for image and sound.
  • LEARNING AND RESEARCH

    The professional dissertation process takes place over the 2 years of the Master's degree. The aim is to analyse and reflect on one's practice by linking the teaching received, professional and personal practice, work placements and the professional project. Interviews with professionals are compulsory in order to address the issues raised in the dissertation. The aim is to train editing specialists who also have a thorough knowledge of theory and the analysis of their own practice in order to facilitate their professional integration.

  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

    • Appreciate production methods
    • Know the evolution and history of editing in fiction, documentary and experimental cinema
    • Acquire knowledge of Audio/Video Technology, digital compression, workflow in High Definition video
    • Know how to import/export audio and video data, have a solid knowledge of compression
    • Savoir Visionner, indexer et numériser les rushes pour le montage virtuel
    • Know at least AVID and Final Cut Pro, After Effects
    • Know how to synchronise sound and image
    • Learn to Réalise génériques, à Composer et insérer des trucages, des effets spéciaux simples pour l'habillage d'un film
    • Knowledge of social law, employment law (in particular the status of intermittent entertainment workers, authors' benefits, etc.)

    In a general manner:

    • Consistency with the script and the artistic line of the film
    • Provide a critical analysis of images, sounds, acting and music
    • Know how to use certain scoring tools
    • Follow the image and sound post-production chain through to completion of the project
  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

    In M1 : 5 short fiction films of 3 minutes, shot on Super 16mm film ; 5 documentaries of 13 minutes; 1 multicamera capture as part of the Festival International Music Cinema Marseille. In M2 : 2 short fiction films of fifteen minutes, shot in HD and mixed in multichannel  1 ciné-concert (short film and musical composition of fifteen minutes  1 documentary of approximately 26 minutes shot in HD.

    Supervised by professionals, each student will progress to the various positions that their speciality allows.

    Internships (minimum 6 months) complete this apprenticeship through gradual professional integration.

  • SPECIFIC TEACHING CONDITIONS

    Training does not necessarily have to be hands-on, insofar as most of the learning is technical, involving the use of production tools (cameras, recorders, workstations, digital applications, cameras, etc.);ras, recorders, workstations, software applications, rules...), learning takes place in a team, it is carried by a collective organisation and project management.

Inscription

  • ADMISSION CONDITIONS

    • Master's recruitment is based on a portfolio, multiple-choice questions and an interview.
    • Required level for entry into M1 : Bachelor's degree, 180 ECTS and 4 weeks' work experience in the sector.
    • Required level for entry into M2 : M1 Cinéma and Audiovisual, 240 ECTS and 8 weeks internship in the sector.
    • French level required for foreign students: C1
