RESPONSABLES
AIMS
The aim of the MiF course is to train Master's level graduates to:
• develop an experimental approach and design a molecular microbiology project
• write or present orally a scientific report articulating knowledge in microbiology
in a clear, precise and appropriate manner for the audience
• implement œskills in microbiology in academic research or research and development.LEARNING AND RESEARCH
Master's courses are based on training in and through research. Bringing together researchers and professionals in the field, the Master's program offers the possibility of entering the job market at BAC+5 or continuing one's studies at doctoral level.
The Fundamental Microbiology pathway draws on a large panel of microbiology laboratories as well as numerous technological platforms including:
Institut de Microbiologie de la Méditerran&e, BIAM at the Cadarache Atomic Energy Centre, Institut Méditerran&e en d'Océanographie, unité Transporteurs Membranaires, Chimiorésistance et Drug-Design, Institut des Sciences Moléculaires de Marseille, le Centre de Recherche en Cancérologie de Marseill
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED
• design a microbiology project and its applications based on fundamental knowledge (cell biology)
and methodological approaches (molecular, cellular, genomic)
• join a research team in the various fields of microbiology
INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS
Mandatory internship from the first year of the course, potentially abroad (Italy, Belgium, and Germany in particular)
Research project supervised by researchers in M1
Mandatory six-month end-of-study internship in an academic laboratory or platform on a fundamental microbiology topic, potentially abroad. Students are provided with a list of laboratories offering internships.
Students must find their own internships abroad (M1 and M2), and are referred to the Master's partner universities.
SPECIFIC TEACHING CONDITIONS
Pedagogy is based on classical methods based on lectures and TDs and active pedagogical approaches which consist of preparing and presenting a lecture, editing a journal, organising a colloquium.
Training through research: numerous interactions with different Microbiology research laboratories through lecturers and researchers
Multidisciplinary training based on project-based learning in different teaching units
