    After a first year in one of the two scientific portals: Marie Curie or Louis Pasteur, the last two years of the Chemistry degree have been designed to allow students to progressively acquire all the theoretical and practical knowledge as well as the skills necessary for the training courses accessible after these three years of study, including in particular the Masters of our University, and for the various professions in Chemistry.

    The aim is to provide a solid base of fundamental knowledge in Chemistry, enabling students to acquire the specific foundations of all the disciplines of Chemistry, whether in organic and inorganic synthesis, physico-chemical analysis and spectroscopy, molecular structure and materials, or process engineering, but also to enter the training courses preparing for teaching jobs through the Physics-Chemistry and Plurisciences courses

  • TARGETED STUDENTS

    • High school graduates with a baccalaureate, mainly scientific options (combination of expert or complementary Maths, Physics-Chemistry, Engineering Sciences, Life and Earth Sciences) or equivalent
    • Students coming from other bachelor, CPGE, PACES, IUT or BTS (possible admission in L2 or L3 after study of the CV)
    • Students from our scientific studies preparation courses (Scientific Studies Preparation, PES ; Aide à la Mise à Niveau Scientifique, AMNS) accessible before entering the Marie Curie or Louis Pasteur portals.
  • ADMISSION CONDITIONS

    The first year of the Licence is open by right to any holder of a scientific baccalaureate or a diploma admitted in equivalence (including from abroad). For students of CPGE, PACES, IUT or BTS, admission is possible in L2 or L3 after study of the CV.

  • STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION

    Access to our Chemistry degree is through two portals in which specific fundamental disciplines are taught in each of the fields represented in the relevant portal:

    • Marie Curie Portal : 1st year common Chemistry – Physics – Sciences for the Engineer – Sciences and Technologies (C-P-SPI)
    • Louis Pasteur Portal: 1st year common Chemistry – Life Sciences – Life and Earth Sciences – Health and Social Sciences (C-SV-SVT-SSS)

  • KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED

    The aim of the Bachelor of Chemistry is to offer students a solid base of fundamental knowledge and skills in all the disciplines of Chemistry, thus enabling them to acquire the specific foundations of each of these disciplines. It proposes a complementarity between theoretical and experimental teaching to :

    Acquire solid theoretical and experimental knowledge in the various fields of chemistry: physical chemistry, organic, inorganic, analytical, materials science and process engineering
    Acquire fundamental transversal skills (life sciences, life and earth sciences, physics, mathematics, English, etc.) and professional skills (management of personal or group projects, discovery of the world of research, optional internships in industry or in a laboratory, etc.)
    Acquire the skills to enter the training courses preparing for teaching jobs (physics-chemistry and multi-science courses)

  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

    • Develop a complete scientific, theoretical and/or experimental investigation, starting from a correctly posed problem in chemistry
    • Design and carry out a chemistry project independently, individually or collectively, promoting the discovery and understanding of chemical phases
    • Develop a project that facilitates integration into a professional organisation or further study and an ethos that promotes empowerment
    • Treat complex problems in all areas of chemistry by mobilising knowledge, theoretical and experimental skills (Chemistry)
    • Resolve problems in physics, chemistry and their interfaces through the mobilization and articulation of fundamental knowledge and know-how specific to these two disciplines (Physics-Chemistry)
    • Design, implement and optimise industrial processes for the transformation of matter and energy through theApplication of multidisciplinary, theoretical and experimental knowledge and know-how (Process engineering)
    • To awaken and educate a school or extracurricular public to science by transmitting multidisciplinary knowledge in a rigorous and pedagogical manner (Plurisciences)
  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

    Our Chemistry degree is supported by several nationally and internationally renowned research laboratories. Because of this proximity, we strongly encourage our students to discover the world of research through optional internships from the first year of the degree. We also offer tutored experimental projects that allow students to explore the themes developed in these laboratories.

    As the Chemistry degree is accessible through two portals, different disciplinary but also transversal courses allow students to cover the different disciplines involved in these portals. They therefore have a very broad vision of the possibilities of orientation at the end of their first year.

    During the 2nd year of the degree, a thematic tutorial project allows students to determine, depending on the project chosen, the potential orientations for the 3rd year;This is the first year of the programme, and the second year of the programme is the first year of the programme, and the third year of the programme is the first year of the programme, and the third year of the programme is the first year of the programme.

  • SUPPORT FOR YOUR LABOR MARKET INTEGRATION

    During the 3rd year of the licence, we offer students the opportunity to discover the different orientations possible within our University for holders of a licence in Chemistry.   • SUPPORT FOR YOUR STUDIES ABROAD

    The Bachelor of Chemistry has privileged links with foreign universities allowing us to participate in European and international student exchange protocols. We have Erasmus agreements with Karlova University (Prague, Czech Republic), La Sapienza University (Rome, Italy), Murcia University (Spain), Umea University and Uppsala University (Sweden).

Objectives

  • Develop a solid base of knowledge and skills in physics, chemistry and the interface between the two.
  • Master formal and numerical languages.
  • Develop an independent and rigorous scientific approach based on solid experimental skills and knowledge.
  • Develop a sense of direction by developing the thinking, critical thinking and initiative needed for further study (master's degree, engineering school).

Target audience & prerequisites

  • Students interested in the two disciplines of physics and chemistry, as well as their interfaces, and wishing to move into teaching or research in the sciences of matter and materials.
  • Entry to the Marie-Curie Portal (L1) is possible for students holding the baccalauréat with two of the following scientific specializations: Physics-Chemistry or Engineering Sciences AND Mathematics, or equivalent diploma.

    The Licence is directly accessible in L2 or L3 (on application) for students who have taken physics and chemistry courses, and who are graduates of other higher education courses such as scientific licenses, preparatory classes or scientific BUTs.

Skills and knowledge

The Physics-Chemistry License program is structured around three blocks of knowledge and skills.

  • Block 1: "from pupil to enlightened student": the courses Methodology of University Work, Personal and Professional Student Project, Laboratory Discovery and Advanced English and French, will enable students to conceptualize, structure and build a professional and/or scientific project, individually or as part of a team, through the implementation of an autonomous and rigorous approach.
  • Block 2: "Disciplinary foundation": this is made up of Physics, Chemistry and Physical Chemistry courses, which enable students to develop a foundation of disciplinary concepts and phenomena within and between the two disciplines, so as to be able to understand and solve the scientific problems specific to this course, with a view to research or teaching.
  • Block 3: "the language of science": courses in mathematics, numerical tools and the experimental approach will enable students to acquire formal, numerical and experimental tools and apply them in a targeted context.
