Licence Mathématique, Parcours : Mathématiques

Après une première année dans le portail scientifique René Descartes, les deux dernières années de la licence mathématiques apportent aux étudiants un socle de connaissances en mathématiques.

Pédagogie

  • AIMS

    After a first year in the René Descartes scientific portal, the last two years of the mathematics degree provide students with a foundation of knowledge in mathematics:

    analysis: sequences, series, functions, integration, functions of several real variables, differential equations, differential calculus, analytical functions, numerical analysis
    linear and bilinear algebra: vector spaces, linear applications, reduction of endomorphisms, bilinear and quadratic forms, Euclidean spaces
    in algebra: groups, rings, bodies
    in geometry and topology: metric spaces, normed vector spaces
    in probability-statistics: discrete and continuous probabilities, descriptive and inferential statistics.

  • LEARNING AND RESEARCH

    The licence in mathematics opens up the possibility of continuing one's studies in a master's degree in mathematics and then possibly in the preparation of a thesis within a doctoral school, in order to begin a career in teaching and research.

  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

    Build a mathematical reasoning based on a fundamental base of knowledge;
    Understand and solve a mathematical problem or one arising from mathematical modelling in a related field (physics, mechanics, computer science, etc.).
    Write a mathematical text in French according to the conventions of the discipline, make an oral presentation in French and communicate in writing and orally in English.
    Implement an individual or team project to solve a mathematical problem by seeking out appropriate and relevant sources.
    Reason abstractly and rigorously in a professional activity within or outside the academic context.
    Build a project to prepare for post-graduate training and professional integration.

    A Student Professional Project module is offered each year in the course.

    The teaching is mainly given in lectures, tutorials and practical work. Some teaching units are based on active teaching.
