LEARNING AND RESEARCH
The MAPI licence is attached to the Environment, Pollution and Environments (ENVIPOM) pathway of the Life and Earth Sciences, mention and includes modules of specific professionalising teaching. The teachers involved in this course carry out their research activities within the three major laboratories of Aix-Marseille university and the CNRS in the field of the environment – Laboratory of Environmental Chemistry, Mediterranean Institute of Marine and Continental Biodiversity and Ecology, European Centre for Research and Education in Environmental Sciences The socio-professional contributors to the training belong to organisations and associations involved in the monitoring and management of aquatic environments – Office français de la biodiversité, Réseau régional des gestionnaires des milieux aquatiques, Maison régionale de l'eau, INRAe.
KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED
It is a course that offers fundamental and applied teaching in aquatic environment ecology (conservation and restoration of environments), engineering and civil engineering for flood prevention, hydrology, hydraulics and fluvial hydrodynamics, pest management, analysis and treatment of water resources; It provides a wide range of courses in aquatic environment engineering (conservation and restoration of environments), engineering and civil engineering for flood prevention, hydrology, hydraulics and fluvial hydrodynamics, petrology, water analysis and treatment, polluted sites and soils. It also brings related knowledge in environmental regulations and standards, knowledge of water stakeholders, cartography and geomatics, finance and public procurement.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED
- Good knowledge of riparian functions and management
- Basic knowledge of hydrodynamics, hydrobiology, water chemistry
- Knowledge of aquatic environment ecology
- Knowledge of sanitation
- Knowledge of chemical and biological sampling techniques
- Skills in land use planning and integrated environmental management
INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS
Internships
An internship of a minimum duration of eight weeks is compulsory in the first year of the course (Bac+2)
An internship of a minimum duration of 12 weeks is compulsory in the second year of the course (Bac+3)
Projects
Case studies, site visits, field placements and work experience activities complement the theoretical training
An integrated project to study the chemical and ecological quality of a river is carried out in groups during the last semester.
SPECIFIC TEACHING CONDITIONS
The lectures are largely illustrated by actual applications seen during the numerous tutorials (project-based learning) and practical fieldwork.
The acquisition of skills is assessed through continuous assessments, fieldwork and field trip reports, lectures and a final examination.
