LUMEXPLORE is :

  • 12 films of scientific or environmental exploration, in competition
  • 9 5-minute films made by schoolchildren from 7 rectorates, in competition
  • 6 books, in competition
  • 5 comics for the Lumexplore Junior Comic Prize
  • 8 films out of competition
  • 6 exhibitions on scientific and environmental themes, at the Chapelle des Pénitents
  • 8 prizes, for each category, including the Lumexplore Grand Prize: 3000€.
  • conferences, book signings, stands

It is also an opportunity to meet our explorers who have come together for this occasion. We are fortunate to have well-known personalities to attract the public, in a magnificent and historic setting: the oldest cinema in the world, that of the Lumière Brothers!

DATES AND PLACES

From 16 to 19 September 2021: Filmscreenings , book signings, conferences at the Eden Theatre Cinema and exhibitions at the Chapelle des Pénitents in La Ciotat.

Thursday 16 September: Opening of the Festival.

Saturday 18 September: Closing night, awards ceremony.

Thursday, October 14 : Lumexplore 2021 awards ceremony at the Geography Society in Paris, from 7:30 pm to 11 pm.

PERSONALITIES

We have the great privilege of having within the Society of Explorers many personalities such as the Minister of Ecological Transition and Solidarity, Nicolas Hulot, (see his video on our site, Program tab, Lumexplore 2017), Bertrand Piccard, pilot and designer of Solar Impulse, Jean-Louis Etienne, doctor and polar specialist, Claudie and Jean-Pierre Haigneré, astronauts, Laurent Ballesta, marine naturalist biologist and photographer, Matthieu Tordeur, polar explorer, Yves Coppens, palaeontologist, Sylvain Tesson, writer, Patrick Deixonne, 7th Continent project manager, Alain Tixier, Ushuaïa director, etc...
