Clone of Bachelor's Degree in Mechanics

The first year of the Bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Sciences of Aix Marseille University is carried out in one of the three portals Marie Curie, René Descartes, Louis Pasteur. Each one associates disciplinary teachings necessary for several mentions, methodology, English, orientation and success assistance.

The René Descartes Portal signs the 1st year common to the Computer Science, Mathematics, Molecular and Physics majors.

At the end of semester 1, students who wish to do so will be able to apply for an intensive course in physics, as well as ask to join the double-licence mathematics-computer science.

If the student's profile does not correspond to the expectations of the portal, an accommodation will be proposed, allowing to obtain a licence in four years instead of three. The first years may be offered on a different site from the one where the student has made his or her choice (on Parcoursup or Etudes en France).

The second year of the mention will only be accessible by right after the validation of the first year of the portal with the corresponding options.

The Descartes portal is offered on the sites of Saint-Charles, Luminy and Aix-en-Provence (Montperrin site). The Descartes portal is also offered in distance learning. Depending on the chosen field of study, the second and third years of the degree can be done on a different site.

Students with a typical scientific background and affinity for computer science, mathematics, mechanics or physics. The maths speciality is compulsory. Another scientific speciality related to the portal is strongly recommended. A map of this profile will lead to the proposal of an accommodation.

The Descartes portal opens towards the 2nd year of the licences of 4 different mentions: Computer Science, Mathematics, Mechanics, and Physics.

In the third year, students have the possibility to enter the multi-science course which leads to the teaching profession or to the civil service competitions.

These licences allow students to continue in one of the masters in computer science, mathematics, mechanics or physics of Aix-Marseille University or of another university. It also offers the possibility of entering engineering schools according to the passerelles or of taking teaching competitions.

The scientific foundation accounts for 80% of the year's credits and includes teaching in the four disciplines of the portal. In the second semester, a choice of options consolidates the orientation towards one of the different majors accessible in the second year. The choice of option determines access to L2 in the chosen licence.

An internship in one of Aix-Marseille University's research laboratories is offered to students who have passed the first semester with an average of more than 16/20.

Registration is done via ParcourSup or Études en France followed by the administrative registration of matriculation. The vœu is made by choosing a mention of licence : Computer Science, Mathematics, Mechanics, Physics, or double-licence Mathematics-Computer Science.

The finalization of the registrations is done with the faculty of Sciences of the site of attachment (either the accepted sub-version: Aix-Montperrin, Luminy, Saint-Charles, Distance learning).
