Master Biologie structurale, génomique, parcours : Biochimie structurale (BS)

  • AIMS

As part of the Structural Biochemistry pathway, the young graduate will master all the biochemistry techniques used to purify different types of biological macromolecules. They will be able to determine the three-dimensional structure of these macromolecules using the various biophysical approaches associated with this field, such as X-ray crystallography, NMR and cryo-EM microscopy. Finally, you will be able to study the three-dimensional structure of macromolecules, study and model their molecular dynamics and identify their interactions. He or she will have an integrative and comprehensive view of the importance of three-dimensional structure for understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the biological processes that have enabled the emergence of life from inert matter.

  • PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED

The young graduate will acquire the skills needed to purify a wide range of macromolecules, to resolve their structure at the atomic level and to model and analyse their biological functions. They will also acquire the skills needed to carry out the analysis of the data obtained by mastering the computer and statistical tools associated with the field of structural biochemistry.

  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

In M1, the course includes a compulsory 7-week laboratory placement supervised by researchers and teacher-researchers associated with the master's degree and in M2 a second compulsory 6-month placement either in a research laboratory, a company or on a scientific platform.
