AIMS
This course offers lectures in fundamental physics connected to the environmental issues and address future new challenges and innovation needs.
TARGETED STUDENTS
Baccalaureate holders with scientific specialties.
Admission possible on application in L2 and L3 of students from scientific backgrounds (CPGE, BTS, BUT).
ADMISSION CONDITIONS
Applications for admission to the L3 "Physics and energy transition" programme must be made via the online application eCandidat.
For foreign students, depending on their nationality of origin, the application file may be processed by the CampusFrance system.
FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES
Access to the "Physics and energy transition" course of the Physics Licence requires validation of the L2 Physics of Aix-Marseille University or a diploma judged equivalent by the Licence pedagogical committee.
Admission to the L3 "Physics and energy transition" is also possible for students from CPGE, engineering schools, or IUT upon examination of the application.
FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES
The "Physics and energy transition" course of the Physics Licence requires very good skills in fundamental and applied physics. A good level in mathematics is also necessary.
STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION
The semesters of each year of the Bachelor of Physics are organized into three teaching blocks (knowledge and skills blocks), which bring together several courses: a block to learn to analyze, model and solve physics problems, a block to learn to choose and implement methods and tools from fundamental knowledge in physics and a block to develop their professional project and enrich their discipline with related knowledge. A block is spread over a year, within a block the lessons can compensate for each other, but the blocks do not compensate for each other, thus guaranteeing the validation of both scientific and non-disciplinary skills.

LEARNING AND RESEARCH
Because of its vocation of fundamental training leading in particular to research careers, the Physics Licence offers the possibility of carrying out experiments and internships in laboratories at all levels of the training.
For this, the Physics Licence relies on the large and diversified potential of the Physics Department of the University of Aix-Marseille (more than 150 teacher-researchers, about twenty engineers and technicians). The teacher-researchers, actors of this training, allow to associate the fundamental teachings with the stakes of the current Research and its applications beyond the public sector.
KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED
This course offers lessons in fundamental physics linked to environmental issues being in line with the new challenges and innovation needs of tomorrow.
PROFESSIONAL SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED
The specific skills developed in this course are :
- Solve energy-related problems using the tools and methods of the physicist
- Modelling a physical system in order to establish an energy balance
- Know the main methods of mass energy production and the associated physical mechanisms
- Apply methods developed in physics to problems relating to the energy transition
- Applying numerical computation methods to the solution of fluid mechanics problems
LEARNING COURSES LIST
SUPPORT FOR YOUR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Students wishing to enter a Bachelor of Physics will be guided in their orientation throughout their course:
- In the 2 dedicated portals René Descartes and Marie Curie, specific lessons will be offered in order to determine their choice of orientation in L2.
- The second year is a common core to the 3 Physics courses. During this year, the teacher-researchers involved in this training and the supervisors within the EU PPPE (professional project supervision) will support the student in his choice of options.
- In L3, the different courses offered allow students to adapt their training in line with their profile and their plans for further studies.
In parallel with the first year, a PES success support system is also offered which consists of delivering the content of the portals over 2 years based on new pedagogies in order to prepare for the requirements of L2 and L3 teaching. This system is therefore aimed at students with a bac S who have specific difficulties in certain scientific disciplines and wish to benefit from a gradual transition between secondary studies and higher education.
Students wishing to change direction during their course have the possibility of integrating a Professional License at the end of the L2, upon examination of their file.
