After the start of the school year, once your administrative and pedagogical registration in the L1en2ans course has been confirmed, you will be asked to sign your Pedagogical Contract for Student Success (CPRE).
The signing of this contract aims to make you aware of the importance of your commitment, which is essential to the success of your higher education studies.
It is clear that there are three major reasons for failure in the first year of the Faculty of Science:
- Lack of adaptation to a high standard: the degree of requirement in university, in terms of intellectual difficulty and the amount of work to be done, is much higher than in high school. Having the average is much harder, and the average is required to pass to the next class. We remind you that the failure rate of those enrolled is 61% in the first year. You have to prepare yourself for this shock and get to work immediately. The first two weeks will be full of evaluations which will allow to confirm the initial orientation or to direct the students as well as possible between the various possible formations (portal, reinforced portal, L1en2ans, AMNS) according to their results. Unfortunately, often, when the student realizes that he/she must start working, it is too late, the gaps are too big and the pace too fast, failure is inevitable. Continuous assessment in L1 in 2 years is there to avoid this pitfall.
- Lack of motivation and lack of maturity: this results in a lack of work, whatever the means deployed by the teaching staff. This is often accompanied by behavioural problems which will not be tolerated in the first year of the second year in order not to harm the other students. The Department of Studies will make proposals for reorientation in conjunction with the SUIO (University Information and Orientation Service). Exclusion can be pronounced in case of serious or repeated disorders.
- Lack of methodology, lack of self-confidence and/or too many gaps in one or more disciplines of the portal: are you serious and ready to work hard? Yes... then L1en2ans is for you!
