  • AIMS

The first year (M1) and second year (M2) of this progarmme are taught entirely in English.

The Nanoscale and quantum engineering programme of the Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies master's degree aims to train the future international players in research and development in the cutting-edge fields of nanosciences and nanotechnologies.

Future graduates will make a particular contribution to the advancement of nano-objects, nanomaterials and nano-devices in various fields of societal interest.

The main aim of the Nanoscale and quantum engineering programme is to equip future graduates with the concepts and tools needed to design ambitious academic or industrial projects whose innovative character is built on the development and integration of nano-objects, nanomaterials and nano-devices.

This programme also offers graduates the opportunity to acquire a responsible ethic in the manufacture and use of nanomaterials.

The courses in the Nanoscale and quantum engineering programme covers:

    • methods for synthesising and fabricating low-dimensional physical objects (surfaces, nanomaterials, molecules, etc.), and their implementation in clean rooms,
    • nanoengineering and quantum devices
    • simulation and modelling of their structural, electronical, mechanical, optical, magnetic and surface effects properties,
    • imaging and spectroscopy techniques for nanoscale matter,
    • Nanotechnologies
    • nanotechnologies : energy production, data processing, quantum technologies...
  • FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES

A solid background in scientific progress is expected in order to achieve all the skills of the Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies master's degree. Nonetheless, during the first semester of the master's programme, students are offered bridging and specific courses so that they can both update and deepen their learning with regard to their chosen programme.

  • FUNDAMENTAL PREREQUISITES

It is intended for students who have acquired the foundations of an effective method of working with scientific knowledge, who are familiar with the basic concepts and tools of mathematics, physics and/or chemistry, and who want to understand the phenomena that govern matter on the nanometric scale.

  • LEARNING SITES

    • SCIENCES, Marseille St-Jérôme
  • LEARNING AND RESEARCH

The Nanoscale and quantum engineering programme is based on widely recognised laboratories working in the fields of nanomaterials, electronics, materials physics and chemistry (IM2NP, CINaM, Madirel, Institut Fresnel, LP3, PIIM, BIP, ...), as well as local technology centres (NanoTecMat, PLANETE) to familiarize students with cleanroom work.
